This one falls firmly in the second camp. The Armenier sisters of Domaine de Marcoux, a Châteauneuf estate farmed biodynamically, take the fruit from two hectares in the northern sector near Orange: one hectare at Maucoil planted in the 1930s and another at Boislauzon planted in 1965. The grapes are sorted in the vineyard and again in the cellar. The blend is the traditional mix of eighty per cent Grenache with the balance in Syrah, Mourvèdre and a little Cinsault, hand-harvested and fermented in cement tanks with wild yeast, resting a fortnight on skins. The house signature of finesse is clear, with a toned, textured palate and fine chalky tannins.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now and good for five or six years.
