En Motrot sits between the church and the Château de Gevrey-Chambertin, close to Clos St-Jacques; Au Vellé lies nearby under Petits Cazetiers; Combe-du-Dessus is at the top of the Brochon slope just north-east of the village; En Champs sits directly below the Premier Cru Champeaux and carries vines over seventy years old; and En Dérée lies below En Champs on the Brochon border. Only 20 per cent new barrels were used and a third of the fruit was destemmed. The wine has long been the domaine’s calling card among its village bottlings, and in a blind line-up it would pass for Premier Cru from a good address.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGive it at least five years, and longer again in magnum.
