The upper section drains freely; the lower ground near the road holds more clay and can be heavier. Mortet's vines lie in the lower part of the Clos, immediately beneath those of Château de la Tour, but they are among the oldest and most attentively farmed in the whole vineyard. François Labet of Château de la Tour, not a man given to easy compliments, has told Bibendum that Mortet's example consistently finishes at or near the top of the comparative tastings held there. The style is floral and fine rather than broad.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGive it five to eight years and expect it to hold for two decades.
