The vineyard was historically called Buisson Menard, and so was the wine, until a writer reviewed it as Buisson Renard: renard is fox and buisson is bush, and Didier Dagueneau was so amused by the accidental fox bush that he adopted the mistake from the following vintage. The estate now prices this above Pur Sang, which says plainly how highly it rates the site. The wine is fermented in barrel and matured in the bespoke cigar-shaped casks of 450 and 600 litres that Dagueneau had made, a shape chosen to increase lees contact while limiting the influence of new wood. Magnums are made in very small numbers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe format will slow it down, so give it three or four years and cellar with confidence.
