Dureuil-Janthial's plot covers 0.4 hectares in La Combe, on silt, clay and limestone soils, and the vines are around fifty years old. Vincent Dureuil, whose home base is Rully in the Côte Chalonnaise, treats the fruit exactly as he would a wine of higher standing: whole-bunch pressing, a natural fermentation on indigenous yeasts and an élevage in barrel with just 15 per cent new oak, so the wood stays in the background. The wine that results reads far more like a young Puligny than a regional white, with the salty cut and fine structure the village is known for.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well on release and worth keeping four or five years.
