The name is straightforward enough: meix is an old Burgundian word for a farm, and Cadot is a common surname in southern Burgundy, so the vineyard is simply Cadot's farm. Dureuil-Janthial controls 1.71 hectares here, planted in 1985, in a chalky, wall-enclosed section that is well suited to Chardonnay. As across the rest of the domaine's holdings, the soils are clay over limestone and the farming is organic. In the cellar the fruit is whole-bunch pressed and fermented in barrel with a restrained proportion of new wood. It is one of the strongest arguments for the Côte Chalonnaise as a source of serious white Burgundy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well from a year or two and holding for six to eight.
