Dureuil has a little Chardonnay planted there, but the bulk of his holding is a hectare of 40-year-old Pinot Noir supported by 0.3 hectares of 70-year-old vines. The winemaking is unusually painstaking for the price: the fruit was destemmed by hand so the grapes and their pedicels stayed intact, a method used by Bize-Leroy, Arnaud Mortet and Charles Lachaux among others. The grapes then sat at cold temperature for eight to ten days before any juice was released, and a further ten days after that before going to barrel, one-third of it new. The wine spent 18 months ageing, six of those in tank, and was bottled according to the lunar cycle.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApproachable from two years and good for a decade.
