It has quickly become one of the heavyweights of the range. The soils are pure Kimmeridgian limestone, and because the site runs cool the fruit is picked late, which brings density and precision together on the palate. The vines are relatively young by this domaine's standards, though a good twenty years all the same, and they express the limestone with real intensity. Vinification and ageing take place in three- and four-year-old barrels, so the oak is well in the background. The style is more openly expressive than the Monts-Damnés cuvées while keeping the tension and mineral drive that define Chavignol.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now and good for eight to ten years.
