The slopes are Kimmeridgian limestone mixed with red clay, and that combination with the far northern latitude gives Pinot Noir of brightness and chiselled, tangy minerality. Goisot has a mere 0.5 hectares in the lieu-dit of Les Mazelots, and his farming and the age of the vines are now delivering real depth and flesh in the context of the appellation. These are among the oldest Pinot Noir vines in France. Irancy could once be chewy and hard to approach young; Guilhem Goisot has been taming the tannins and building more flesh in recent years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking from two years and good for a decade.
