This wine comes from two small parcels of mature vines inside the climat, planted in 1933 and 1952, with a quarter of the fruit drawn from the historic Clos des Carmes. Guiberteau has moved to larger-format barrels from several coopers, favouring thick-staved demi-muids from Atelier Centre France for this cuvée, and has also engaged Clos Rougeard's local cooper. The élevage now runs two winters in barrel followed by six months in tank, a response to the potency and coiled energy the terroir gives.
