The fruit comes from vines planted in 1933 and 1952, most of it in the lieu-dit Bourguenne, with about a quarter from the historic Clos de Carmes. Guiberteau now works with larger-format barrels from several coopers, favouring thick-staved demi-muids and casks from Clos Rougeard's local artisan cooper. Brézé spends two years in barrel, half of it new, followed by six months in tank, an élevage that suits the wine's density and coiled energy. In style it leans towards the textural richness of fine Meursault.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA magnum from a powerful year, this needs time and will run for two decades.
