Les Battaudes sits on the Chassagne side of the Remigny border, below the Abbaye de Morgeot, on clay that gives the wine flesh. Domaine Henri Germain, based in Meursault, farms only a small plot here, and production is correspondingly limited. A modest proportion of whole bunches went into the ferment, and the wine was raised with only a dash of new oak, in line with the lighter touch the domaine has adopted for its reds. The result is ripe but fresh, and good value in the context of current Burgundy prices.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinkable now and good for eight years or so.
