Those stones bring warmth while the limestone brings mineral freshness, which is why the vineyard gives wines of both power and cut and is routinely spoken of as grand cru in all but name. Germain crops just 0.12 hectares, in the sector known as Les Petites Perrières. His version, like his Charmes, is made in the traditional Meursault manner, with perfectly ripe fruit and a long, patient vinification in used Burgundian barrels. This is not a lean or austere reading of the site: Germain's Perrières is consistently deep and powerful while keeping the mineral spine that defines the vineyard.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGive it three to five years and cellar for fifteen.
