Clos du Bourg is perched on the Première Côte directly above the town and is farmed exclusively by Huet, who took it on in 1953 and purchased it a decade later. Of the domaine's three sites it is generally held to be the greatest, and among the most serious white-wine vineyards in France. With only a metre of soil above the rock, the vines reach the limestone almost at once, and the combination of a warm, sheltered exposure with that mineral base produces wines that are both concentrated and extremely long-lived — powerful without losing the cut that defines dry Vouvray.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTightly wound on release; give it three or four years, and expect it to run far longer.
