Its argilo-siliceux soils — stony ground with green mineral clays and flint over limestone — carry less clay, and a different clay, than the estate’s Le Haut-Lieu, and the result is the tightest and most mineral wine in the Huet range. For that reason Le Mont is usually given over to dry and off-dry bottlings, and a moelleux is made only when the season delivers fruit concentrated by botrytis or by passerillage on the vine. When it does appear, the sweetness sits on the firm acid spine and pungent stony grip that the vineyard is known for, rather than smothering it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinkable on release and capable of ageing for decades.
