Huet purchased the steep, rocky eight-hectare vineyard in 1957. It lies on Vouvray's esteemed Première Côte, part of a bank of limestone-rich hillside overlooking Tours, and its argilo-siliceux soils — stony, with green mineral clays and flint over limestone — provide the tight structure and pungent minerality the site is known for. With less clay, and a different type of clay, than Le Haut-Lieu, Le Mont typically produces the nerviest wines in the Huet stable, so the parcel is given over mainly to dry and off-dry styles. Huet's secs carry between four and eight grams per litre of residual sugar depending on the season.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePent-up and mineral when young, it rewards five to fifteen years and the best examples go much further.
