Rabourcé is a very steep premier cru west of the village, above the well-regarded Cloux vineyard and just below the woods, on soils made up largely of white, limestone-rich clay. It is reliably one of Rully’s earliest sites to ripen, and it has a reputation for richness and power rather than the leaner style often associated with the appellation. The Jaeger-Defaix vines here are now between forty and forty-five years old. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and raised in used oak barrels, so the oak sits behind the fruit rather than in front of it. It is bottled under Diam closure.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReady after a year or two in bottle and worth holding for up to eight.
