The altitude keeps this corner of the southern Rhône cooler than most of the appellation, which suits the style Klein wants from Un Air de Réméjeanne: a vin de soif of juicy fruit and floral perfume rather than weight. The blend is seventy per cent Grenache to thirty per cent Syrah. After a five-day cold soak the wine spent less than a week on skins, with half the crop fermented as whole bunches to add lift and a buoyant structure. Ageing took place in concrete and the wine was bottled within a year of harvest, so there is no oak character at all — just rocky red-berry and wild strawberry fruit with a green-herb vivacity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA lighter, supple style made for early drinking over two or three years.
