Its position is remarkable even by the standards of that village: it borders La Tâche directly to the south, of which it is effectively a continuation, and La Romanée-Conti, La Romanée and Romanée-Saint-Vivant to the north. The site came into Lamarche hands in 1933 and has been a family monopole ever since. It is often described as a prettier, more delicate version of La Tâche, though it arguably sits closer in character to its northern neighbours; Clive Coates has called it a more feminine wine than La Tâche and closer to Romanée-Saint-Vivant, and Allen Meadows notes that its ageing curve most resembles that vineyard too. Comparisons only go so far, and it has a clear personality of its own.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA wine for the long haul, best from eight years and holding for twenty-five.
