Domaine Pierre Gaillard is based at Malleval and draws this wine from four parcels: Côte Bellay, Les Patasses at Malleval, Boissey at Chavanay and La Caille in Condrieu itself, each on that same granitic ground. Yields here ran to 30 hectolitres per hectare, and the wine spent seven months in oak, of which 10 per cent was new, so the wood supports the texture without dominating. What marks Gaillard's whites is the way they combine intense aromatics and a ripe, hedonistic palate with real mineral refreshment, and at 13.5 per cent alcohol this is a lighter, more balanced release than some.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrink within about five years, with roast chicken, scallops or a lightly spiced Thai dish.
