The three-hectare clos faces east on decomposed granite, and Pierre Gaillard bought it in preference to a slice of what became the La Turque vineyard in Côte-Rôtie, a site he had helped to plant. He simply judged Cuminaille the better piece of land. The vines are now more than 30 years old. Winemaking follows the estate's other Saint-Joseph closely, with the difference being a little more new oak, around 40 per cent, which the fruit carries without difficulty.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking now and better still with four to eight years in bottle.
