Ponsot's parcel is in Gémeaux, which borders Cherbaudes and En la Chapelle and in turn En Griotte. The soils here are notably poor and rocky, and the wines they give tend towards mineral definition and longevity rather than early weight. The vines were replanted in 1990. Recent vintages have seen a longer time on skins with gentler extraction, which has added flesh without coarsening the tannin.
