Small amounts of Chardonnay and Pinot Gouges, a white mutation of Pinot Noir, have appeared in the blend at various points in its history, but from 2004 the wine returned to pure Aligoté, drawn mainly from a selection planted in 1911. Since 2015 a younger-vine parcel has made up 15 per cent of the blend, bringing the average age to roughly ninety years. Soils are grèzes litées over white oolite and a Dijon-Corton limestone base.
