Two varieties are permitted and are commonly blended, the small-berried Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains and the earlier-ripening Muscat Ottonel. Domaine Schoffit works out of Colmar, one of the driest towns in France thanks to the rain shadow of the Vosges, and its Tradition wines come from the Harth, a bed of warm limestone gravel on the plain that ripens fruit reliably.
