Like the rest of the hill it faces south-west across the Serein and rests on Kimmeridgian marl laid down under a Jurassic sea. The domaine was founded in 1959 by William Fèvre, whose family had long farmed vines here, and was bought in 1998 by the Henriot family, who installed Didier Séguier as winemaker. Under him the house moved away from the assertive new oak of earlier years, so the vineyard rather than the cellar sets the tone.
