The estate classifies its vineyards in a Burgundian hierarchy of estate, village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites along the slope from Wachenheim through Forst, Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg. Hommage à Luise is named for Luise Bürklin-Wolf and is deliberately made in a light kabinett style rather than the dry Pfalz norm: picked early, fermented to just 9.5 per cent alcohol and left with 31.9 grams per litre of residual sugar, which reads as gently off-dry against the acidity.
