{"product_id":"equis-cornas-2021","title":"Equis Cornas 2021","description":"\u003cp\u003eEquis Cornas is made by the Graillot family from three organically farmed granite parcels tended by the grower Elie Bancel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCornas is the smallest of the northern Rhône's red appellations, a steep amphitheatre of granite terraces south of Saint-Péray that produces the firmest and longest-lived Syrah in the sector. Equis is the négociant label of Maxime Graillot and Thomas Schmittel, alongside their Domaine des Lises estate wines. A quarter of the blend comes from a twenty-year-old parcel on the slopes of Les Chaillots, another quarter from La Sabarotte with thirty-five-year-old vines, and the remaining half from La Côte, where eighty to ninety-year-old vines cling to a fifty per cent gradient. Bancel has always farmed these hillsides organically, and the Graillot team decide the picking date and bring their own crew. Winemaking follows their Crozes-Hermitage, with roughly a quarter whole bunches, and adds some used 600-litre casks, with an extra year of age before release.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFirm in youth, it will reward five to fifteen years and suits roast lamb, venison or slow-cooked beef short rib.
