Equis is the négociant label of Maxime Graillot and Thomas Schmittel, run alongside Graillot's Domaine des Lises, and Equinoxe draws primarily on a mature, gravelly, organically farmed site at Pont-de-l'Isère. That vineyard belongs to a friend and neighbour of the Graillot family, and grower and producer work closely together, a collaboration that has lifted the cuvée over successive releases. The fruit is fully destemmed, then fermented in concrete tanks and large wooden tronconique vats with a degree of carbonic maceration, and matured for nine months in the same vessels. No new oak is used, and the aim is a fleshy, forward Crozes rather than a structural one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMade to be drunk young, though it will hold four or five years.
