This one is made by François Labet, better known for Château de la Tour in the Clos de Vougeot, from a vineyard in the Haute-Corse department at 400 metres above the town of Ghisonaccia. The altitude is the key: it keeps night temperatures down and preserves the acidity that Pinot Noir needs in a Mediterranean climate. Labet handles the fruit quite differently from his red Burgundies, destemming completely rather than working with whole bunches, then ageing two-thirds in tank and one-third in French oak before bottling. The result is a Pinot with more spice and earth than the Côte d'Or gives, and it is sealed under screwcap.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReady to drink now.
