Frapin is unusual in drawing solely on vineyard it owns, some 240 hectares of Ugni Blanc around the Château de Fontpinot at Segonzac, where the family has farmed since 1270 and where everything from growing to bottling takes place. The base wine is distilled on its lees in small copper pot stills, and the eaux-de-vie age in Limousin oak in the estate's own humid cellars. Almost all cognac is brought down to bottling strength with distilled water; here the spirit goes into the bottle at whatever the cask has left it at after fifteen years in oak, in this release 45.3%.
