Its holdings sit in the Juffer and the smaller Juffer Sonnenuhr, a steep, south-facing amphitheatre of blue Devonian slate rising directly above the Mosel opposite the village. Slate warms quickly, drains hard and forces the vines deep, and the river reflects light back onto the slope, ripening Riesling that still keeps searching acidity.
