It is the smallest of the crus by area, sitting on granite and sandy soils on the slopes above Moulin-à-Vent, and its Gamay generally carries more structure and a firmer frame than the crus further south. Gamay in the crus is usually made by semi-carbonic maceration on whole bunches, which keeps the aromatics bright while leaving the tannins fine, and where oak is used in Chénas at all it tends to be older and neutral. Nothing further is claimed here about the making of this particular bottling.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGood young but with the frame to hold for five years or so.
