After decades of campaigning by its growers, the appellation was granted its first premiers crus in 2020, twenty-two named climats promoted on the strength of their sites and their track record. Georges Duboeuf, based at Romanèche-Thorins since 1964, works well beyond Beaujolais and has long bottled wines from the Mâconnais.
