Germain takes the opposite view and bottles a Meursault as a Meursault. The half-hectare site lies near the Volnay border, due south of Les Santenots, and is one of the few remaining walled vineyards in the commune. The vines are old Pinot Fin planted in 1949, and they crop at under 25 hectolitres per hectare in a good year, which is very low even by Côte de Beaune standards. The 2019 was fermented with forty per cent whole bunches, adding lift and a little tannic frame to the fruit.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApproachable after three or four years and good for a decade.
