Henriques \u0026amp; Henriques is the leading independent shipper on the island and, unusually, farms a significant share of its own vineyards; it also holds deep reserves of old wine in cask and bottle, some of it well over a century old. Bastardo is the Madeiran name for Trousseau, a red variety once widespread on the island and now barely planted, which makes any bottling of it rare and a wine of this age rarer still. Henriques \u0026amp; Henriques bottled this cask in 2021, the fourth commercial release of the wine after those of D'Oliveira, Leacock and Blandy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFully mature and stable for years in the bottle, opened or not.
