Benoît Moreau, better known for his whites in Chassagne-Montrachet, farms half a hectare of mature vines in the steep granitic terroir of Chatenay under the L'Arlésienne label. The approach is closer to Burgundy than to traditional Beaujolais: only 30% whole bunches, a slower ferment and no semi-carbonic treatment. Moreau likes the transparency of amphora for this cuvée, and the wine is racked into stainless steel after a year, so nothing sits between the granite and the fruit. The wine is floral and red-fruited with a line of fine tannin to close.

Best enjoyed over the next three to five years, lightly chilled, with grilled quail, salmon or a charcuterie board. Serve at 14-16°C.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur.
