This wine, from L’Hêtre, is a blend of 83 per cent Merlot and 17 per cent Cabernet Franc, made in an immediately approachable style rather than one that demands cellaring. It is deeply coloured and medium-bodied, with a smoky, fruit-forward character of dark berries, bramble and spice underscored by a chalky minerality that reflects the limestone beneath. On the palate it is smooth and well balanced, with gentle tannins, fruit and oak integrated rather than layered, and a savoury, lingering finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReady to drink now and over the next five years.
