Rozier lies in the northern part of the appellation, on the slope above La Landonne, on schist, a hard dark rock that holds heat and gives structured, mineral wines. Syrah is the dominant grape of Cote-Rotie, and a small proportion of Viognier may be co-fermented with it. This cuvee is raised without any new oak, so the fruit and the site rather than the barrel set the tone.
