Beside the fleshier, more immediately seductive Aleste, Le Vigne tends to be the lifted, perfumed and more mineral of the pair. Sibi et Paucis, roughly for the few and the favoured, is the family's museum programme: 10 to 15% of each year's Nebbiolo production is held back in the winery's underground cellars under ideal conditions and re-released closer to maturity, the Barolos ten years after the harvest. It was Luciano Sandrone's wish that his wines reach drinkers only when ready.
