Each year about ten to fifteen per cent of production of the estate's Nebbiolo wines, the two Barolos and the Valmaggiore, is held back in the winery's underground cellars under optimal ageing conditions and released later, so that long-term customers can buy bottles closer to maturity. The Valmaggiore begins to reappear six years after the vintage and the Barolos ten years after, and each release carries a stamp on the label distinguishing it from the original. Le Vigne itself is Sandrone's blend of separately vinified parcels across several Barolo communes, matured in large casks.
