Seppeltsfield lies on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley, a district long associated with the fortified wines of the Seppelt family, where elevated, well drained slopes and sandy and ironstone soils suit Grenache. The variety has been planted in the Barossa since the mid nineteenth century and in these warm, dry conditions it gives wine of perfume and fine, sandy tannin rather than weight.
