Massolino, a Serralunga d'Alba family, holds parcels in three Barbaresco sites and chose this one when it decided to bottle a cru from the appellation. Of its two hectares in Albesani, only 0.6 hectares went into this wine: the parcel at the top of the vineyard, at 260 metres, where the blue marl soils are poorest and the vines oldest at around 50 years. The ground is classic limestone and chalky clay and the exposure is southwest.
