Early releases of this wine came solely from Massolino's younger vines in Serralunga, in effect a declassified Barolo. Two further parcels now go into the blend: Cascina I Maschi in Monforte d'Alba, a cool, chalky site the estate credits with lifted perfume and freshness, and a parcel in Alba on lighter sandy clay that brings depth of fruit. The blend is roughly a third from each. Extraction is very gentle and the wine is aged in large Slavonian oak casks, as with all Massolino Nebbiolo, though for fifteen months rather than the twenty-four or more given to the Barolo. It is bottled under screwcap.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReady on release and good for five or six years, it works with braised beef, mushroom pasta or a plate of salumi.
