A portion of this wine comes off those 45-year-old vines, with the majority hand-picked from a newer north-facing block. All of it grows in loose sand and sandstone above dark brown coffee rock, which is sand cemented by iron oxides and organic matter. The blocks are farmed conventionally on paper, though in practice the team has worked them organically for two decades.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eExpect something satin-textured and eminently drinkable: red fruit, pepper and a savoury undercurrent, with brisk acid and tannin of real refinement. There is no weight to it and no shortage of flavour.
