The Gimmeldinger Schlössel site sits on the warm sandstone and loam soils of the Mittelhaardt. A Trockenbeerenauslese is picked berry by berry from fruit fully affected by botrytis, in quantities measured in litres rather than hectolitres, and ferments very slowly to a low alcohol with a great deal of residual sugar.
