French oak in several formats, barrique, demi-muid and foudre, gives the wine its frame without burying fruit that stays bright and aromatic. Classical in shape, it runs on fine texture and refreshing acid, the sort of claret-minded red the Adelaide Hills does well and gets little credit for. Michael Downer built it with Australian dinner tables in mind.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBoysenberry and dark plum, a savoury tapenade note, and the Franc showing as a discreet wild-herb lift. Fine-grained tannin and a fresh, dry finish.
