Domaine Theulot Juillot is based in the village and run by Nathalie Theulot with her family. A season of very poor yields led her to approach grower friends to make up volume, and this cuvée came from one such parcel: a south-facing clay-limestone site whose crop was heavily marked by millerandage, known in English as hen and chicken. The winemaking was pitched at delicacy rather than power, with a cold soak, deliberately minimal extraction and only a small proportion of new oak in the élevage, the aim being a red Burgundy open enough to drink from the start. The result is perfumed and red-fruited, with supple tannins carried on bright acidity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now and over the next four or five years.
