P'tit Martin is drawn from the estate's younger plantings, most of which lie just 300 metres from the commune of Rasteau, on the same limestone and clay slopes that produce the domaine's more serious bottlings. The blend runs to two-thirds Syrah and one-third Grenache, with small amounts of Counoise and Vaccarèse, two old southern Rhône varieties now rarely encountered. Younger vines they may be, but the domaine's habitually low crop levels and careful farming mean the wine consistently outperforms its Côtes du Rhône billing. The result is juicy and spicy, with wild blackberry fruit and the supple drinkability the appellation is supposed to deliver but often does not.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now and over the next four years.
