Ornellaia was established there in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori and is now owned by Marchesi Frescobaldi. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are fermented parcel by parcel, then matured for around eighteen months in French oak barriques before a further rest in bottle.
