Here, different geological formations meet within the vineyard, giving Bric dël Fiasc its distinctive combination of finesse and power. It is one of Paolo Scavino’s most important Barolos, made in a structured, classical style that requires considerable time to reveal its full complexity.

The Riserva is made only in selected years and given the longer ageing that the classification requires, so it reaches the market later and with more time behind it than the standard bottling. The 2008 has now had close to two decades in bottle. Nebbiolo’s naturally high acidity and formidable tannin structure underpin its ability to develop over such spans, and this bottle has been held back and cellared at the estate throughout, giving unbroken provenance alongside its maturity.

Stand the bottle upright well before opening to allow any sediment to settle, then decant carefully and serve at around 16 to 18 degrees with braised beef, game, truffle dishes, porcini or mature Piedmontese cheeses.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur.
